In this article, I’ll explain about VLAN in simple terms.
Overview
VLAN is the technology to construct virtual LAN segment unlike usual LAN. Specifically, VLAN divide the broadcast domain on L2SW virtually and limit the range of direct communication.
Moreover, when we use VLAN we don’t have to change physical cables to build the network.
Merits
The merits of VLAN are below.
- Not dependent on physical cables or NW devices
- We can configure the policy or QoS for each LAN
- The amount of traffic decrease
